Do These Five Things First
- Stop the water. Shut off the main water valve, or the valve for the leaking fixture.
- Be careful with electricity. If water is near outlets, light fixtures or a ceiling fan, turn off the power at the breaker. Do not touch wet electrical items.
- Keep people out from under a sagging ceiling.
- Take photos and video of the damage before you move anything. You will need them for insurance.
- Call a plumber or roofer to fix the source, then call us for the drywall.
When to Call Us Right Away
- A ceiling is bulging, dripping or sagging
- Water is running down inside a wall
- Drywall is soft, crumbling or falling away
- A pipe burst or an appliance line failed
- A storm opened a roof leak over a ceiling
- You are about to leave town with wet drywall in the house
What an Emergency Visit Covers
- A fast inspection and moisture check
- Removing sagging, soaked or hanging drywall that is unsafe or holding water
- Cleanup of drywall debris
- Advice on what to dry, who to call, and what to photograph for insurance
- A written plan and estimate for the full rebuild
The final repair, including new board, texture and primer, is done after the area is fully dry.
Why Speed Matters
The EPA says that in most cases mold will not grow if wet materials are dried within 24 to 48 hours. Wet drywall that sits longer softens, stains and becomes a mold risk. Quick tear-out of ruined board and a dry-down protects the rest of the wall.
What It Costs
Emergency calls cost more than scheduled repairs when they involve after-hours response. Final price depends on how much drywall must be removed, whether it is a wall or ceiling, and how much rebuild follows. We explain the price before work begins.
Emergencies in Rockwall County
North Texas freezes can burst pipes in attics and exterior walls, and spring storms and hail can open roof leaks fast. Homes near Lake Ray Hubbard and in Rockwall Harbor can also see water entering after heavy rain. When it happens at night or on a weekend, you do not want to wait for a Monday appointment.
